Welcome to the blog!

The first thing that you should know about me is that I am a passionate, opinionated individual.

For several years now, I have wrestled with the concept of putting my thoughts and feelings online. The world is, as we all know, a harsh and judgmental place - even more so on the internet. People are quick to judge, eager to dismiss, and rarely inclined to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. Conveniently enough for me, I happen to like talking about things that, by their very nature, invite disagreement, judgment, and debate.

I am interested in a lot of different areas: Politics, economics, business, tech, finance – I usually have an opinion on whatever the current events are in each of these spaces. But you can only overwhelm your friends and family with these types of conversations so many times before you realize you need a better outlet.

Starting a blog felt like the obvious move, but for a long time, I talked myself out of it. I kept falling back on the same question:

Why would anyone care to hear what I have to say?

So, I stayed quiet. But as time went on, I kept watching people post their thoughts anyway. The loudest voices in the room were out there posting content every single day without giving it a second thought. They did not care if they were wrong, and they certainly were not worried about whether what they were sharing was even useful. They just put it out there.

Seeing that made me look in the mirror. I realized I was letting self-doubt hold me back. I was hesitant to put my work in public view, wondering if anyone would find it useful, and worrying about what people might think if I made a mistake.

Then, while scrolling through my social media feed one day, a famous quote attributed to Elbert Hubbard caught my attention:

“If you want to avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.”

It put things into perspective. If my main goal was just to avoid making mistakes or getting criticized, the only way to win that game is to never do anything at all. I was letting a fear of bad feedback keep me from sharing what I know, discussing topics I care about, and putting my thoughts out there.

That stops today.

So, what can you expect from this space?

First and foremost, this blog is an outlet. It is a dedicated space for my thoughts on the world. While the primary focus will stay anchored in politics, business, economics, and finance, this is my space. If I feel like writing a deep dive on sports or yapping about a random passion project on a Friday, you will see that here too.

Second, my goal is to inform and to challenge. Where my life and professional experiences have given me insight, I hope to use that knowledge to elevate readers. On polarizing or heavily debated topics, I want to challenge existing assumptions - and I fully expect my own to be challenged in return.

Finally, to be completely transparent with you: in an ideal world, I would love to make some money from this page down the road. It is not the primary driver, and if this blog never earns a single penny, I will still consider it a success because it served its purpose. But if I am able to build an audience and a community large enough to supplement my income doing something I love that would be incredible.
